Hearsay Social CEO Clara Shih to Keynote Grace Hopper Celebration, Fortune Most Powerful Women Event

A decade ago, our founder and CEO, Clara Shih, attended the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing as a Stanford graduate student and Anita Borg Scholar. Seven years later, she was honored as one of Fortune magazine’s Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs.
We’re excited to share that Clara will be speaking at both Fortune’s Most Powerful Women Summit and the Grace Hopper Celebration next week alongside visionary female leaders and Fortune 500 CEOs across numerous fields, including government, philanthropy, healthcare, technology, finance, education, media and the arts. She’ll be sharing her perspective on leadership, diversity, and lessons learned from her experiences working for some of the biggest tech companies and as a startup founder and CEO.

GraceHopperThe Grace Hopper Celebration is the world’s largest gathering of women technologists and expects 12,000 attendees this year to convene in Houston, Texas. The event is produced by the Anita Borg Institute, which was founded in 1997 by computer scientist Anita Borg, and aims to connect, inspire and guide women at all stages of their technology careers. Speakers will include Sheryl Sandberg, COO of Facebook and founder of Lean In; Megan Smith, CTO of the United States; and Susan Wojcicki, CEO of YouTube.
Clara will take the stage on Wednesday, October 14, to talk about her journey from being an event attendee in the audience a decade ago to, now, a keynote speaker and company founder. She’ll share her challenges and successes as a woman in the male-dominated engineering and startup world, and advice on how to handle not being part of the majority. Scheduled to follow Clara’s talk will be Blake Irving, CEO of GoDaddy, and Megan Smith, chief technology officer of the United States.
