Technology, the changing workplace, and entrepreneurship at Web Summit

Earlier this month, Hearsay Social CEO Clara Shih took center stage at Web Summit in Dublin to discuss the future of business with the technology industry’s most influential leaders–including Peter Thiel (Founder, Founders Fund, @peterthiel), Padmasree Warrior (Chief Technology & Strategy Officer, Cisco, @padmasree), Drew Houston (Founder, Dropbox, @drewhouston), and many more.

In their “centre stage” discussion, Clara Shih (CEO and Founder, Hearsay Social, @clarashih) and Darian Shirazi (Founder, Radius, @darian314) sat down with Caroline Hyde (Business Correspondent, Bloomberg, @CarolineHydeTV) to talk about big shifts in technology over the past decade, the changing face of the workplace, and some of the best words of wisdom they’ve gained as entrepreneurs.

CEO Clara Shih and Warren Buffett at the FORTUNE Most Powerful Women Summit 2011

As we wrote last month, FORTUNE Magazine recently named Hearsay Social’s co-founder and CEO Clara Shih one of the Most Powerful Women Entrepreneurs in 2011.
Though that would have been honor enough, Clara was also invited to join fellow woman entrepreneurs, other successful women in business, and legendary investor Warren Buffett for an evening centered exclusively on women rising in the corporate world. Clara even sat at the head table with Buffett and other business luminaries, where she saw firsthand the investor’s well-known love of burgers, fries, and Cherry Coke. (Buffett opted for that favorite meal of his instead of the planned main course: mushroom risotto, halibut, and Burgundy wine.)

In spite of some stormy weather, the event was incredible and inspiring, with influential women dominating the stage. Presenters included the likes of Sheryl Sandberg (Facebook), Marissa Mayer (Google), Arianna Huffington (The Huffington Post), and Tyra Banks.
