Taking Social Global: Tech Leader Goes After More Products, Countries and People

Historically, financial companies haven’t exactly been on the cutting edge of social media, but Clara Shih set out to change that when she founded Hearsay Social in 2009. By switching out cold calls and emails for tweets and Facebook feed posts, Hearsay helps 115,000 financial agents and advisers use social media to attract and retain customers. It counts New York Life, Pacific Life, Farmers Insurance, Penn Mutual and Raymond James among its largest customers. Hearsay Social has raised $51 million in venture capital and has more than 170 employees worldwide.
