Hearsay Social Takes Out Insurance; Adds Allstate To Client List

Clara Shih, the 30-year old CEO of Hearsay Social, has been at the forefront of using social media for marketing purposes for almost three years—hell, she wrote the book on it. In 2009 her book TheFacebook Era, largely considered the manual for social-media marketing, was met with praise from industry big-wigs like Sheryl Sandberg.

But while she knew certain industries would find social marketing more successful than others, after signing the company’s first two clients, a trend emerged that Shih and co-founder Steve Garrity were quick to capitalize on: when it comes to dollar signs, the insurance industry and social media were a match made in heaven.
