Leading Silicon Valley Software Firm Expands into Europe with London Office Opening to Address Rapidly Growing European Customer Base and Demand
April 24, 2013 – London, UK – Hearsay Social® today announced the opening of its European headquarters in London, the appointment of a regional director, and an update to its social sales and marketing platform in anticipation of further growth in the region. The world’s largest organizations use Hearsay Social to increase revenue, referrals, and renewals by transforming the entire enterprise into a social business.
“European companies have started to recognize the tremendous business benefits arising from the use of social media,” said Clara Shih, CEO of Hearsay Social and author of The Facebook Era. “We are expanding in Europe in order to offer our clients the tools to take advantage of these opportunities. Tens of thousands of reps from the world’s largest sales forces already rely on Hearsay Social. They have moved beyond outdated cold-outreach sales tactics and are now using social media insights and trusted referrals to drive quality conversations.”
The European headquarters based in London will be led by veteran software executive Peter Caryotis, who previously managed IBM’s Northern Europe Platform Computing business. Peter joins Hearsay Social with 20 years of international sales and management experience from companies including Oracle and Sun Microsystems.
“Social media usage continues to grow in the UK, but many organizations, especially those in highly regulated markets such as financial services, are still trying to figure out how to leverage the social networks to generate revenue,” commented Mr. Caryotis.
The Hearsay Social platform has been updated to support German, French, and Spanish in addition to English, enabling salespeople from Europe’s largest economies to use the tools in their local language.
“Hearsay Social can help marketers manage corporate social profiles, but it comes into its own as a tool for empowering salespeople on social sites. It offers sophisticated content sharing and seeding features, and its permissioning and oversight tools are among the best we evaluated,” Forrester Research recently wrote about Hearsay Social in its report The Forrester Wave™: Social Relationship Platforms, Q2 2013.
Clients of Hearsay Social include leading global financial services and insurance firms such as AXA Equitable, Northwestern Mutual, and Zurich Insurance. The company, which has more than 100 employees and has raised $21 million in funding, was founded in 2009 in San Francisco by former executives from Google and Microsoft. Hearsay Social’s investors include Sequoia Capital, NEA, and top executives from Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google, and YouTube.
Hearsay Social CEO and Founder Clara Shih will discuss how companies can generate new business through social channels in London at the Social Media Leadership Forum on Wednesday, April 24, and the Financial Times Digital Media Conference on Thursday, April 25. The European regional director Peter Caryotis will be speaking at the Social Media Influence conference on Thursday, June 13, presenting how companies can move from social media marketing to social sales forces.
